Vatican ladder in 3D

Spiral staircase is one of the greatest inventions of architecture. They make people look up (or drop down) and admire the amazing symmetry. But often they may cause dizziness.

3D image presents perhaps one of the most beautiful, famous and often photographed staircases in the world, the staircase, which is located in the Vatican.

A lot of foreign tourists visit Vatican Museums every year. And its ladder is one of the most popular and wonderful attractions. Designed in 1932 by Giuseppe Momo the staircase attracts people’s attention not only by its steps which are slightly tilted down, but also by it design. The ladder consists of two single coils, one of which leads up and another – leads down and in whole a double helix is formed. So people walking up may not meet those walking up. On this 3D picture people look like being sucked into the maelstrom.

Giuseppe Momo did not know that the shape and structure of the ladder would help to simulate the double-helix structure of DNA.

Nice 3d views, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch because I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
