Titanophoneus potens which means “the titanic murderer” in Greek is the best-known of the anteosaurs, thanks to a complete skull and postcrania. Theses remains were found at Isheevo in Russia. This specimen has the scull about 26 cm in length.
And according to scientific research an adult skull would have reached 80 cm at total length of a body about 5 m. There are 12 large incisors on the upper and lower jaws, followed by the canines and then the much smaller postcanines. The body is characterized by primitive features such as a long tail, the short powerful neck with the big head, the extended stocky trunk and short somewhat sprawling limbs, and in general is reminiscent of the sphenacodontid pelycosaurs. See 3D photo.
One can suppose that young animals fed mainly on fish, small amphibians and reptiles though adult individuals could hunt on large vertebral on a land.
