3D picture presents the view of the Grand Cascade from the Grand Palace looking down the Sea Channel to the Gulf of Finland in Peterhof.
The Grand Palace is the highest point, towering at the edge of the natural terrace16-meters high. On its slopes fountain jets with gold and silver sculptures of the Grand Cascade are sparkling.

In front of the Cascade in the center of the semicircular pool the powerful jet fountain “Samson” is placed. And then the water flows to the Gulf along the Sea Channel. The channel has been the transport hub and the main entrance to Peterhof, but after 1735 when fountain “Samson” was constructed the previous use of the channel became difficult. Lined with granite and decorated with gilded mascarons Sea Channel is one of the main attractions of Peterhof, demonstrating the inextricable geographic and artistic link of seaside residence with an aqueous space. On both sides of the channel paths are stretching, but neither oak nor lime: this is the avenue of fountains, streams of light of which are allocated in the dark needles of the trees of the Lower Park. Perhaps the greatest technological achievement of Peterhof is that all of the fountains operate without the use of pumps. Water is supplied from natural springs and collects in reservoirs in the Upper Gardens.
